Siyada (سيادة, "sovereignty") is a real-time strategy game in the browser: you start with a small territory on a real-world map, expand it with troops and gold, forge or betray alliances, and try to hold the map. It is an Arabic edition of the open-source game OpenFront (Opens in a new tab), rebuilt for Arabic-speaking players with its own identity and its own servers, while the code stays under AGPL-3.0 and the assets under CC BY-SA 4.0 as upstream.

What changed from upstream

  • Complete localization: menus, settings, the in-match event log, tooltips, the tutorial, server messages, map, nation and city names, and Arabic names for the AI players. A CI check fails when the Arabic file is missing any key present in English.
  • Right-to-left everywhere in the interface while the battlefield itself stays untouched. Arabic names are drawn on the canvas with connected letters in Cairo and Reem Kufi, which meant rewriting the WebGL name-rendering layer.
  • No accounts, store, ads or tracking: play as a guest with a nickname, and not a single request leaves for the upstream game's servers.
  • Map review: 135 maps had their names and borders reviewed, with the editorial decisions documented in the repository.
  • Self-hosted behind Cloudflare: map binaries are precompressed and cached at the edge, so they load in seconds rather than minutes.

How to play

Open siyada.schemava.dev (Opens in a new tab), pick a name, then either start a solo match against AI nations or create a private lobby and send the link to friends. English is one click away in the language switcher at the bottom of the page.

The project is in open beta; its code will be published once the review is complete, in line with the AGPL network-service clause.
